WE NEED HOMES

UPDATE - The owners of these dogs came for them. The puppy had been adopted out already, hopefully to a good home, but "Charlie" was still there when they arrived. Apparently the puppy was showing Charlie how to escape and the owners were in the process of adopting the puppy out to a relative when they got out. I get to see Charlie as he lives a few blocks away and is often sunning himself in the yard. He remembers me from the shelter and always runs to the gate to say HI.

Unfortunately, no one showed up at the shelter or responded to my fliers or posts to claim these two sweet dogs, so they are still sitting at the shelter. They will be available for adoption on Jan. 10th and who knows how long they will survive the shelter system after that - especially the bigger boy.

If you know ANYONE who may be interested in these 2 - they don't have to be adopted together but they were together and seemed bonded when I found them - please let me know or direct them to the North Central Shelter.

I can donate a few hundred dollars to a qualified rescue to save both of them or to save the boy - who I call Clifford. I think he will have a much harder time getting adopted from the shelter. When I visit him he is hiding in the back area of the kennel but when he sees me or hears my voice he comes out and wants love. He is alone and lonely - the shelter wouldn't put the puppy in with him because of the size difference. He isn't eating at the shelter but will eat treats from me and volunteers and rescue folks that I've seen there. He is a sweet big lug to wags his tail when he wants more treats and gives gentle kisses. When I walk away I can see the panic and heartbreak in his face and body language and it kills me that I had to take him to that scary place.

The little girl puppy is a sweetie too - she is in with another puppy so she has some company and doesn't seem depressed - yet. She was very attached to Clifford when I found them - crawling on him to hide and feel safe.

Please help these dogs, don't make them stay in the shelter any longer than they have to - it's not their fault their owner doesn't seem to want them anymore.

2 dogs found in Los Feliz

I found 2 dogs yesterday in the Franklin Hills area of Los Feliz, specifically around Franklin Ave. and Hollyvista.

One is a neutered male, maybe a vizsla or mastiff and pit mix – he has the coloring of a Vizsla. He is a big boy, a couple of years old, well taken care of and friendly. He has two different colored eyes.

The other dog is a female pit/shepherd mix. She is young, I’d say between 4-6 months, and is very attached to her friend.

They are at the Lacy Street Shelter, 3201 Lacy Street, Los Angeles, CA 90031 888-452-7381
